Chevy Tahoe, Sub. Vortex V8 96-97 The MSD 8.5mm Super Conductor Wire is "The" Performance Wire. Engineered from the inside out, the 8.5 offers everything you have ever wanted in a wire; incredibly low resistance without electronic interference! In a single 12 inch length of Super Conductor Wire there is only 40 - 50 ohms of resistance! That is the lowest resistance of any helically wound wire.
To accomplish this, MSD use's a copper alloy conductor due to its great voltage carrying capabilities. The low resistance results in less loss in spark energy so more reaches the spark plug. The conductor is wound extremely tight around a special center core. So tight in fact, that there is over 40 feet of conductor wrapped into a single foot of plug wire. This winding procedure, combined with a ferro-magnetic impregnated center core, produces an extremely effective Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI) "choke".
Heli-Core Wires also prevent a phenomenon known as Inductive crossfire. When two wires are routed close to each other and happen to follow the firing order of the engine, the spark from one wire could be induced into the other wire. This would cause the other cylinder to ignite far advanced and will cause detonation. For example, the firing order of a small block Chevrolet is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. Notice that cylinders 5 and 7 are next to each in both the firing order and the in their position in the block. If the spark from the number 5 plug wire is induced into the number 7 wire, a spark will occur in the cylinder causing detonation. Sooner or later engine damage will occur.
MSD Spark Plug Wires prevent inductive crossfire with MSD's special winding procedure and center core material. The EMI and voltage is held within the wire and is transferred only to the plug!
