Northern Auto has combined 3 popular SBC MSD pieces that work perfectly together. The 6a MSD Digital Ignition Box and the Non-Vacuum Advance Pro-Billet Chevrolet V8 Distributor (MSD's most popular performance distributor), and MSD 8.5mm Super Conductor Wire Set. With this combo kit, you are Ready to Run!
The MSD 6A Ignition Control set the standards that other ignitions strive to reach. For 2011, the bar has been raised even higher as we introduce the all new Digital 6A ignition Control!
Chevy V8, Non-Vacuum Advance Pro-Billet Chevrolet V8 This is MSD's most popular performance distributor! The MSD Ignition 85551 housing is machined from a billet of 6061-T6 aluminum on a state-of-the-art CNC machine producing exact tolerances. Modified blocks can also take advantage of the O-ring seals to help maintain proper pressure.
For high rpm stability, a .500" steel shaft is supported by a sealed ball bearing and a long sintered bushing. This MSD Ignition 85551shaft also receives a QPQ coating for friction reduction and resistance to corrosion. A precision machined reluctor is attached to the shaft which triggers the magnetic pickup mounted in the housing.
Set includes terminals for engines with early type (socket) and late type (HEI “spark plug top”) distributor caps. 90° boots and terminals factory installed on one end.
MSD Universal Kits have the spark plug terminal and boot installed with the other end of the wire open. This way, you can route the wires the way you like and cut them for a custom fit! A special Mini-Stripper-Crimper Tool is supplied to strip and crimp the wire together.
The MSD 8.5mm Super Conductor Wire is "The" Performance Wire. Engineered from the inside out, the 8.5 offers everything you have ever wanted in a wire; incredibly low resistance without electronic interference! In a single 12 inch length of Super Conductor Wire there is only 40 - 50 ohms of resistance! That is the lowest resistance of any helically wound wire.
